After six seasons of developing cycling product strictly for men, Spring 2015 saw the first capsule collection of Commuter product designed specifically for gals. The line includes a skinny jean, technical windbreakers and jackets, and breathable knits such as raglan t-shirts with longer dropped hems and breathable crewneck sweatshirts.
This fall, the line for women has since expanded. Not only are the woven button-up workshirts both more bike-friendly and exceedingly feminine, but the collection now includes stand-out items like a wool trucker jacket blended with techinical fleece as well as a handsome waxed cotton parka with reflective 3M details.
My favorite bit of the Levi’s Commuter line for women are of course the jeans. Boasting a higher rise for increased comfort on the saddle as well as deeper, wider-set pockets the look is both highly functional as well as highly flattering. This season, in addition to the evergreen offering of both black and indigo, jeans are also available in a deep taupe as well as a handsome resinous green.
The Commuter line, now in it’s fourth year, is one of Levi’s most succesfull diffusion collections. This season’s marketing campaign includes branded web content, a stellar lookbook, a separate instagram account a la Levi’s Skateboarding, as well as and two one-minute web videos posted on the company’s website and Youtube channels.
