I discovered the work of Toronto-born photographer Roeg Cohen through the modern rabbit hole that is instagram. That was last month. Looking further into his portfolio of work over this last long weekend (the final dying breath of summer) I find myself waking up from dreams populated by graceful mares, doe-eyed brown-haired girls, dusty desert el camino’s, road-weary wanderers, and rural cattle farms.
There is an honesty to his portraiture that strips the subject of any pretense. There is no concept to ‘get’ – just an honest depiction of grace and elegance.
